My First Notebook...

Hi, I hope you're all ok, and managing to get some crafty time this weekend.  It's forecast snow here in Manchester for today and tomorrow, I believe, with severe weather alarms showing on the weather forecast for the North/North West, but we're not quite as cold as further up north.

I managed to get some time yesterday (one of those pj days :-)) to make my first ever notebook!  It's a little 4 x 4  one - initially I thought this size would be way too small but have definitely changed my mind to "very handy":

It was a very basic and easy one, just a trial run really, but I love how it's turned out:

I covered the outside of the book boards with some dp, and the inside with SU butterfly-themed text paper.  I stamped the script from the TH Papillon set with Distress Stain in Tarnished Brass, on the front and back, then punched the 2 sets of three holes.
The sentiment is also a TH one, stamped and embossed onto a piece of card cut with a Spellbinders die and coloured with Old Paper DI, then edged with a little Bundled Sage and Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I used a gold Krylon pen around the edge of the die cut and also around the edge of the book boards, and added some green crocheted trim on both the front and back.  The large butterfly I've had for a few years, and although I love it, I never seemed to make the right creation that it would work on, but I though it was perfect for this one.  A SU brad on the front, and a piece of ball chain with a key attached for decoration was hung from the top "o" rings to finish it off.  The inside pages are a coordinating shade of a green.

There is another one in the making soon!

Bye for now

Snow, huh? A perfect excuse to stay inside, where it's warm, and do some crafting. He he. ;)

This notebook is stunning. I would have never guessed it's the first one you've made so far. Fab work!

Hugs! xx

Hi Maz, wow just adore your first book, the script stamping on that DP is fabulous, gotta get that stain.
No snow here yet, although the car is covered in a really hard frost. My mojo has left me this weekend, I've no energy at all, think we all desperately need some sun lol x X X

Ooh this is gorgeous. I agree with Julia, the stamping with the DS is a master stroke. Think I must have a look at these too. The notebook is fabulous and I love the shabby gothic feel. Thank you for the lovely comments on my blog too. Have a great evening. Xx

Outstanding notebook Maria! Such an authentic vintage look - stamping with the distress metallic is brilliant - must try. The 3 embellishments are each so very lovely, I can imagine why you would hold them till the right piece and boy do they look sumptuous here. Nicola x

Hi Maria
Your first notebook - wow, what a first! Beautiful aged appearance and that sentiment is perfection. The lace is of course gorgeous - I know, I always zoom in on any lace!
I have to thank you for all those comments, that surely took you such a long time to visit all my posts and comment on them so thank you :)
A light snowfall this morning but keeping fingers crossed there will be no more. As beautiful snow is on the landscape it can also be a bit of a nuisance.
Wishes
Lynne
