Yellow and Blue Make Green - Craft-Room Challenge DT

Hello, what a busy fortnight it's been, and it's time again for a new challenge over at the Craft-Room.  The entries into our Summer challenge were fabulous, I have the tough task of choosing a top 3!  This fortnight's challenge theme has been chosen by our wonderful and very talented leader, Zoe, and it's a colour challenge:

Yellow and Blue make Green

We are going to be quite strict with this one, you may only use the colours Yellow, Blue & Green.   If you are not using a support of those colours then it must be white, and the ink you stamp in must be either one of the three colours or black.   No other colours to sneak in please.

This challenge took me out of my comfort zone completely as I don't tend to use a lot of bright colours, but I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed getting really messy and inky, as it seems ages since I've done that!  I didn't think the stamp was really my kind of thing, but I actually loved using it, so I may have to treat myself to a couple more from this range :-).

I created a wall hanging using a page from an mdf book:

I coloured an A4 sheet of Ranger matt-coated card with distress inks in Evergreen Bough, Scattered Straw, Stormy Sky, Squeezed Lemonade, and Iced Spruce.  Once covered, I spritzed with water, dried, added more ink, then spritzed again, dried, etc, until I was happy with the result.

I covered the mdf page with some of the coloured card, and stamped the CI bunnies (CI-372).  I then stamped them again onto a different part of the card, cut them out and attached over the top.  They were stamped a third time on plain white card for the crowns, which were coloured with Scattered Straw, then I added a bit of sparkle with a Sakura clear glitter pen.
The sentiment, also coloured with Scattered Straw, is by Dylusions, and the foliage is by Indigo Blue and Hero Arts.  I dyed some seam binding in the same DIs to hang this from.

Our very kind sponsor for this challenge is:
who have the most amazing selection of stamps, dies, masks and other crafty essentials.

If you would like to join us as a Guest Designer, don't forget to add "GDT" after your name when you enter, and our lovely Mervi will be in touch with you very soon.

For some more inspiration, please pop over to the Craft-Room Challenge to see the fabulous creations by the rest of the Design Team, including a gorgeous creation from our Guest Designer this fortnight, Eemeli.

Unfortunately, my time has been very limited lately.  My daughter and grandson now have a little place of their own and moved out just over a week ago, so, as well as trying to help her, I have also been relocating my craft room (yet again) - each time I do this, there is more stuff to shift, lol!  I will miss them very much, but I should also have a bit (or a lot!) more time!

Thank you for visiting, I really do appreciate you taking the time to drop by and comment.

Enjoy your week, whatever you are doing, and take care.

Paper Tape

Hi, as promised, I'm back with my calendar entry for  Week 5 of The Craft Barn Calendar challenge.  The theme for this particular week was 'paper tape'.  I had a whole lot of fun doing this, tried a technique I'd never used before and even quite like the result!

Using Jane's technique for inspiration (she used this on Day 2 of Paper Tape week), I covered my piece of card in masking tape.  I didn't have any smooth tape, having finished a roll about two weeks ago (I wish I'd saved some now!), so I improvised and used general diy masking tape which has a bit of a texture to it.  Tearing little pieces off and layering them over my piece of card, I covered the whole piece then sprayed it with Walnut Ink Crystals dissolved in some hot water, and allowed the ink to have a good roll about all over the place, seeping into all the nooks & crannies, then I mopped up the excess.  Once it was dry, I stuck some lovely wide washi? tape across the middle of the piece of card.  The Stampers Anonymous/TH images were stamped onto Kraft cardstock with Coffee Archival Ink and then cut out, and the calender was mounted and attached.
I then used the same tape around the edges of the mdf block, bringing it around the front, then mounting the whole paper-taped piece onto the taped block.
I've backed the whole block with Kraft cardstock. I'm hoping to upload Week 4 at the weekend, along with Week 6, then I will be up to date!

I'd also like to enter this into the Eclectic Ellapu Challenge who have a theme of  It's A Vintage Thing.

Bye for now

Play.....

Hi, I hope you're enjoying your weekend and hopefully having some crafting time.  Things are still hectic at the moment but I'd like to share with you a little wall hanging I made a couple of weeks ago but didn't get a chance to upload, what with packing for the move going on and my Jack (the dog) being very poorly indeed:

The mdf base has been undercoated with Gesso and painted with Parlour Cream chalk emulsion, then stamped with a letter stamp by Hero Arts.  A piece of music paper, with the edges inked, has been attached in the middle but this is only visible in small places.  Versamark has been dabbed on the side edges then embossed with Ancient Gold embossing enamel.

The lovely vintage image on vellum of a woman playing the harp has been mounted onto some dp by Melissa Frances and again onto some Kraft Glassine and corners added, then an On The Edge die cut attached under one side of the image, with a TH ticket slipped underneath.  The three pale pink trims are by MME and the flower is an old earring.  I've threaded some jute twine through the holes to hang.  Distress Ink used was mainly Vintage Photo.

I'd like to enter my hanging into some challenges:  The Stampman's current challenge is Show Us Your Shabby Chic Or Distressed, Charisma Cardz would also like to see Shabby Chic, Divas By Design have a theme of Anything But A Card, and Bunny Zoe's Crafts would like us to use Ribbon or Twine.

I hope you like it.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :-), Monday comes round way to quickly!
